Our Story & Mission

Born out of a need for ethical, community-driven support.

Ta'awun Community Fund (TCF) was established to provide a dignified and Shari'ah-compliant alternative for funeral support. We believe in the power of community coming together during life's most difficult moments. TCF is a registered non-profit company.

The TCF Journey

TCF began with a simple observation: many families in our community were facing financial and logistical burdens during times of loss, often turning to interest-based loans or inconsistent crowdfunding.

We envisioned a better way—a system rooted in the Islamic concept of Ta'awun (mutual cooperation). A fund built by the community, for the community, where every contribution serves as a promise of support for one another.

Ta'awun Community Fund (TCF) has been carefully structured as a Shari'ah-compliant mutual assistance platform rooted in the principles of Tabarru' (donation) and Ta'awun (mutual cooperation). The objective of the Fund is to provide dignified and structured financial assistance to members in times of need, particularly in relation to Janazah obligations, while upholding the highest standards of Shari'ah compliance.

TCF is structured as a cooperative mutual assistance fund (Ta'awuni model) and not a conventional insurance contract. The Fund operates on cooperative risk-sharing rather than risk transfer. Members collectively support one another.

  • Prohibition of Riba — No interest-bearing instruments, accounts, or transactions are utilised.
  • Avoidance of Gharar — All terms, contribution allocations, benefits, and conditions are explicitly defined and disclosed.
  • Avoidance of Maysir — The structure eliminates speculative gain; benefits are assistance-based, not winnings.

The structure falls within acceptable contemporary cooperative/Takaful frameworks and is Shari'ah-compliant subject to ongoing supervision by an independent Shari'ah Advisory Board.
